So, an old friend of mine and I tried to create this a while back on my old server, but if anyone has played Jetpack Joyride, they'll see where I'm going.

The developers, half brick, give this description:
Join Barry, a struggling gramophone salesman, as he breaks into a secret laboratory and commandeers experimental jetpacks. Strap on a bullet-powered jetpack to dodge lasers, electric fields and all the missiles that come your way.
Get a boost along the way with vehicles like the Lil’ Stomper, Profit Bird, and Crazy Freaking Teleporter. If you’re lucky, you’ll also find the Strong Arm Machine (SAM) – the ultimate vehicle of destruction and hi-fives.

The Powerups in Jetpack Joyride are made up vehicles which are really cool, for example, there are dragons that you control or robots and things like that which all help you progress further, quicker.

The currency in Jetpack Joyride helps you upgrade visuals such as golden power-ups (Which are just golden, not more powerful) or more interesting jetpacks. The default jetpack is a machine gun, but you can buy all sorts with the currency from getting far and collecting coins in-game.
The game is simply played by the player holding down the screen to activate the jetpack, but the player has to try and avoid obstacles such as lasers or electricity wires.

It's a really cool game and free so if you want to see what I'm talking about, go download it.

The way this would work in Minecraft is definitely worth a custom plugin, but even without you can make it work.
You could build levels with long 3x3 corridors, and then use the Rocket Boots plugin (https://dev.bukkit.org/projects/rocketboots) and there's sure to be other plugins for power-ups somewhere.

The scoring system and leaderboards would be really competitive and if you could make an infinite corridor, the highest score could also be an exciting challenge.

I'd like to see more app - minigame adaptations, only on McOrigins, it could give the server an edge over the rest.

How would this work in a 3d setting though? not forgetting that jetpack joyride is pretty much 2d and the camera angled in such a way so you can't see that far ahead of you.

True, but then you could add blindness to get around that.

How about you actually elaborate for the ppl who don't know jj. Also be a little more descriptive in general like what do powerups do, is there a currency, how does the gameplay go is it just by yourself?

Sure, I explained a little already but I'll add more now. Thanks for the suggestion btw.

As the people above have stated, how would this work? In Jetpack Joyride, if you stop moving you lose, so how would you replicate that in minecraft. Also, in Jetpack Joyride the only control you use moving John uo or down, while minecraft has a lot more 3d controls. I feel like perfect adaptation would ruin the game, and adapting it to minecraft controls would just give us a game resembling that dragon parkour game on mineplex. Needs detailing.

It's pretty simple how you would adapt it, just add varying obstacles so if they stop moving, the loose.
You have to use your imagination with this, I can't explain everything because I don't know how a developer would go about these adaptations. Minecraft can be changed around to 2d controls using world boundaries and stuff like that. Once again, imagination and helpful suggestions rather than 'Needs detailing'

Seems like a good idea but I think you could have been more detailed with the powerups. like what type of powerup do you get?

Ah yes, Jetpack Joyride is literally my childhood. This is a pretty cool project though!

I like this idea because (I think) it is original so we wouldn't have to be worried about getting into issues with the other servers. I think this is possible to add however I have never seen a mini-game on Minecraft based off of a game on IOS/Android.
